Original Ashtray

First item to review is the "new" reproduction ashtray.  I expect they are selling well but please know they are very easy to tell from the originals.

The lines in the chrome face of the ashtray are very pronounced in the originals.  On the reproduction units, they are merely soft indents.  Easy to tell the difference at a glance.  Side by side photos below.  Ashtray bracket is close to correct, only a slight difference in the lip as shown in the center picture.  The far right photo shows a view from the top.  From this angle the reproduction looks great.

Personally, the chrome face is so far off from the original stamping, I could not use the reproduction part.  I am sure it s great part for many folks, but if you want yours to look original, only original will do in this case.

Repro on left
Photo of the ashtray for Miss June.  I dismantled it and rechromed the face.  Also shown is the original sticky paper backing on the plate.
